This summer their charging plaza will be powered by solar energy. With 450 solar panels on the roof of their premises and a DENS Powerhub for local PV storage, Van Kessel can sustainably charge the growing number of electric cars and trucks on the road.
PV charging is the charging of vehicles with solar energy from one’s own roof. Instead of direct grid power, the generated power is temporarily stored in a battery container, such as the Powerhub. This later delivers the energy to the charging station even when the sun is not shining. In this way, the grid load is reduced and Van Kessel makes optimal use of its own renewable energy.
The 10ft Powerhub at the Milheeze site safely stores the solar energy and delivers it to the new charging plaza. Thanks to the integrated Energy Management System (EMS), it switches smartly between sun, battery and grid. The result: stable charging capacity, lower peak loads and maximum use of locally generated energy.
Electric vehicles will soon be able to charge with a Van Kessel charging card or other common payment cards. The deployment of the Powerhub makes PV charging accessible, smart and efficient – right on location.
Milheeze ties in with Van Kessel’s previous initiatives, such as the large charging station for e-trucks in Veghel. There, too, energy storage plays an important role in the reliable and sustainable charging of heavy electric vehicles.
Van Kessel is making targeted investments in a future-proof energy supply. Think electric vehicles, smart charging solutions and local energy storage. Their goal: less CO₂ emissions and more control over their own energy. With this new charging plaza, they are taking another solid step in the energy transition – and DENS is proud to contribute to it.
