DENS collaborates with Structon at Amsterdam Central Station
If you visit Amsterdam Central Station, chances are you’ll see it: a DENS Powerhub with a power of 300 kVA and a capacity of 580 kWh, featuring an integrated DC charger. Because we’re also building—space, the future, sustainable infrastructure, right in the heart of our capital.
Emission-free charging on a city-center construction project
Amsterdam Central Station is undergoing significant renovation. ProRail, together with NS, Strukton, Dura Vermeer, BAM, is upgrading the entire station without closing down. Everything remains operational, even while a complete revolution unfolds beneath, beside, and above you. Rail beds are being renewed, bridges replaced, platforms widened, bicycle storage expanded, and passenger tunnels upgraded.
And right in the middle of this impressive project, our DENS Powerhub shines—not just as a sustainable energy source, but as tangible proof of what’s possible when high power is required at a location without, or with limited, grid connection. Precisely where energy demand is greatest.
DENS delivers the energy
The project includes widening and extending platforms. Situated between the railway tracks, the Powerhub serves as mobile charging infrastructure for equipment such as the electric excavator crane (“krol”). This demands a charging solution that is safe, mobile, quiet, clean, and reliable.
Due to the limited grid connection, energy is buffered in the battery system around the clock, because the connection alone cannot deliver sufficient power. When the electric krol needs charging, this can be done quickly and easily via the integrated DC fast charger.
