PSV opts for innovative Powerhub battery system from DENS

Top-level football and cutting-edge technology come together in the Brainport region
PSV is taking an important step in the energy transition with the installation of an advanced stationary battery system from DENS next to the Philips Stadium. The battery (Gridhub) delivers 300 kVA of power and has an impressive storage capacity of 580 kWh. This enables the system to effortlessly handle power peaks on match days – from stadium lighting to catering and TV production.
Smart energy for full stadiums
Grid congestion is a growing problem in the Netherlands, and Eindhoven is also feeling the effects. The area between Strijp-S and the inner ring road is heavily congested, especially during peak times. DENS’ stationary battery offers a sustainable solution: extra power capacity without diesel generators and without additional grid reinforcement. This allows the stadium to continue operating at full capacity, even when 35,000 fans are cheering at the same time.

“We solve energy headaches,” says Tijn Swinkels, director of DENS. “Our systems have been running smoothly for years in critical environments such as logistics hubs and production lines. We are now bringing that experience to the Philips Stadium.”

Philips Stadium director Sjors van den Boogaart is pleased with yet another innovation at PSV. “By choosing DENS’ stationary battery system, PSV is once again demonstrating that innovation does not only take place on the field, but in every link around the match.”
The battery system also forms the basis for future applications, such as buffering green energy for events, powering charging stations, or supporting neighborhood initiatives.

Otten Innovation Cup
The collaboration between PSV and DENS will be launched during the Otten Innovation Cup. This prestigious youth tournament, which takes place on August 15, 16, and 17, will use DENS’ sustainable energy solutions. A much greener choice than the traditional diesel generators of the past.
